“We learnt that on December 27 a number of examinations are to take place in various institutions and universities,” said KSUP president Pradip Kalita on Thursday.

“Hence, for the benefit of the students, we have decided to postpone the bandh till December 30,” he added.

The organizations while announcing about their shutdown programme demanded the repeal of the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

They further demanded that Akhil Gogoi should be unconditionally released immediately.

However, the organizations further informed that fire services, medical, examinations and other emergency services are exempted from the purview of the bandh.

The organizations further appealed to their volunteers and the general public to observe the bandh in a totally democratic and peaceful manner.

Akhil Gogoi was arrested on December 16 last by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) amid widespread protests against the CAA in the State.
