After taking oath as the Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said Covind19 will be the top priority for his government and they will start working immediately after the first Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters in his first press briefing as the 15th chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said, “The first Cabinet meeting of the new government will meet tomorrow and start working to fight against Covid19, which is the top priority.”
Terming that he will provide the people of Assam a pro-action government, which will work 24 hours, Sarma said after the first Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, their government will start working on the promises they had made before the election.

He mentioned about the election promises like employment to 1 lakh youths, make Assam free from flood, waiving of loans taken under micro finance and expansion of the scopes of Arunoday Achoni.
Sarma said, “We will make an action plan from tomorrow itself after the Cabinet meeting so that the promises, we had made before the election, can be solved with targets.”

The new Assam chief minister urged ULFA(I) commander-in-chief Paresh and other insurgent groups in the state to shun the path of violence and come to the talk table.
He hoped all the insurgent groups in Assam would join the talk table during the period of the new government.
Sarma said, “Abduction and killing will not solve problems. I hope, we will be able to bring a permanent solution to the insurgent problems in Assam.”
