Keeping in view of the rising Covid19 cases, the Kamrup Metro district administration on Wednesday issued an order announcing implementation of the odd-even system for vehicles in the district.

According to the order, issued by the deputy commissioner of Kamrup Metro, who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the odd-even system will come into effect from May 13.

The order will remain effective from 5 am in the morning up to 2 pm in the afternoon.

“In view of the significant increase of COVID-19 positive cases in Kamrup Metropolitan district and in pursuant of government order issued vide no. ASDMA.24/2020/P1-2/241, Dated: May 12, 2021 the following restrictions in regards to plying of private/personal vehicles have been made from 5-00 AM to 2-00 PM w.e.f. May 13, 2021 in Kamrup Metropolitan District until further order,” the order said.

Covid19

As per the order, vehicles with odd number will be allowed to ply on odd dates.

For example, vehicle number ending with 1/3/5/7/9 will be allowed to ply on May 13/15/17/ 19/21/23/25, 2021, etc.

Vehicles with even number will be allowed to ply on even dates, the order said.

For example, vehicle number ending with 0/2/4/6/8 will be allowed to ply on May 14/16/18/20 /22 /24/26, 2021, etc.

However, the restrictions will not be applicable in respect of government vehicles/ water tankers/milk carrying vans, ambulances, LPG distribution vans, vehicles hired/private used for medical duty/COVID-19 duty on production of valid ID proof and personal vehicles used for medical emergency, the order said.

“Moreover, this restriction will also not be applicable for the vehicles plying in National Highways,” the order further said.
