Assam has registered 786 new COVID19 positive cases on Monday, taking the state’s overall tally to 12,522.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday night in a tweet said out of the new COVID19 cases detected in the state, 598 cases are from Guwahati alone.
The health minister has requested all the citizens of the state to maintain social distancing, personal hygiene and wear mask to prevent the spread of the virus.
“Alert ~ 786 new cases detected in Assam today, with 598 cases from Guwahati City alone. Please follow #SocialDistancing, wear #mask & maintain hygiene,” the health minister said in his tweet.
With the new cases, the total number of active COVID19 cases in Assam now stands at 4,623.
Earlier, a total of 7,882 COVID19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam after they tested negative for the virus.
On Monday, a total of 449 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, were discharged from various civil, district and model hospitals across the state.
The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 14 persons while 3 cases have migrated from the state.
