Following detection of 15 more people in Guwahati’s Fancy Bazar area, the Kamrup Metro district administration has declared 5 areas as Containment Zone.

A total of 15 people, who came in contact with COVID19 positive patient Mungru Sahani, a boarder of Hotel Rajkamal in Fancy Bazar, tested positive for the virus on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Kamrup Metro district administration declared Hotel Rajkamal and its surrounding areas as Containment Zone.

The district administration in an order expanded the area under Containment Zone.

The circle officer of Guwahati Revenue Circle is “directed to seal the expanded Containment Zone area immediately”, said the order.

Kamrup Metro deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu in 5 separate orders declared five areas in and around Fancy Bazar as Containment Zone.

In an order, the area, which covers M.G. Road in the north, Jail Road/Jai Narayan Road in the south, SRCB Road in east and Chambers of Commerce Road in the west, has been declared Containment Zone.

In another order the DC said in view of the detection of a COVID19 positive patient at Fatasil GS Colony, the following area has been declared Containment Zone.

The boundary of the Containment Zone covers Bibha Mishra RCM Complex in north, Gurucharan Sharmah Road in south, Sani Mandir, Tiniali in east and Fatasil Road in the West.

The DC said the area has been declared Containment Zone in the “interest of maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of COVID-19 virus in the area”.

In view of the detection of COVID19 positive patient at Kumarpara, the following area has been declared Containment Zone.

The Containment Zone includes Rupnagar Bye Lane in the north; residence of Dimbeswar Das & others in the south, residence of Victor Baisya & others in the east and the residence of Purabi Sarmah & others in the West.

In view of the detection of COVID19 positive patient at Panbazar Railway Colony the following area has been declared Containment Zone.

The Containment Zone includes Colony Road in north, Railway Colony Road in south, the GRP Colony in east and the Railway Higher Secondary School in west.

In view of the detection of COVID19 positive patient at Santipur, the following area has been declared Containment Zone.

The Containment Zone includes Pubali Path in north, vacant plot of Sri Karuna Pathak Sharma in south, residence of Pranab Sharma in east and residence of Arun Sharma in the west.

“Any violation of this order will attract action under the provisions of ‘The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020’, ‘The Disaster Management Act-2005’, ‘The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897’ and other relevant laws of the nation,” the deputy commissioner said.

“Any unauthorized entry and exit into the notified Containment Zone is barred till the area is declared safe as per guidelines of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI,” each of the order said.

Any movement of any unauthorized individual and vehicle within the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect.

All statutory and other directions regarding maintenance of social distancing will be strictly enforced in the sealed area.
