In wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha on Monday urged the public not to venture out of their houses unless absolutely necessary.

He was speaking in a meeting with health, PHE, food & civil supply and consumer affairs department officials, Indian Railways and AMCH authorities.

The meeting assessed the medical facilities available in the government health institutions and also reviewed the status of isolation wards along with quarantine facilities set up by the health department in Model hospitals, apart from AMCH.

In the meeting, the DC emphasized on proper training of officials and staff designated at isolation wards.

In the meeting, he also directed health officials to further mobilise the ASHA and ANM workers engaged at the grassroots level who are working on sensitising the people on COVID 19 Coronavirus.

He also requested the railway officials present in the meeting to create a mechanism so that travel history of passengers coming from outside the district can be collected.

He also stressed on the need to create proper awareness among people at railway stations so that those coming from outside voluntarily come forward and report to the nearest health institution for necessary screening and declare their travel history.
