The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday released a circular regarding the marking and assessment for the Hindi Elective subject for the CBSE Class 12 Board Examinations 2019.
A report published on Thursday by Times Now News stated that as per the circular shared by the school heads, CBSE authority has informed that instead of the external assessment of the project work of 10 marks, the schools would now be marking the same internally.

It further stated that the schools under CBSE would also conduct an ASL for Hindi Elective and Core which would be for 10 marks.
It may be mentioned that there are a large number of schools under the CBSE across the northeastern region.
In the circular sent to schools along with the practical examination schedule for CBSE 12th Board Examinations 2019, the central board has also notified the heads of all the schools of its decision to henceforth conduct an Assessment of Speaking and Listening (ASL) for Hindi Elective and Core subjects.

The report further stated that the ASL would be worth 10 marks and would be internally assessed and marked.
The revised assessment plan for Hindi Elective and Hindi Core:
- ASL worth 10 marks would be conducted by the schools for Hindi Elective and Hindi Core subjects.
- Project Work (Earlier included as well) would be assessed internally by school. No external examiner would be assigned for the same.
- Schools would be required to upload the marks scored (out of the total 20) on the online portal available for uploading the internal marks as per the schedule.
- This in turn revises the total marks to 80 for the external or theory examination for both the subjects.
- Students to please note that they are required to pass in both the internal assessment of ASL and Project as well as the theory paper separately. The passing marks required is 33 percent in ASL + 33 percent in project work + 33 percent in theory examination which would be conducted in March or April 2019.
