A bus stop with a baby feeding facility will be inaugurated for the first time in Guwahati on Wednesday.
The bus stop has an an air-conditioned baby feeding room and will be inaugurated at Panbazar just adjacent to the water supply department.
This much-needed facility of the city is an initiative of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) in partnership with Mahalakshmi Groups.
The bus shelter with the baby feeding facility will have a room and a toilet.
This facility will help the mothers feed their babies with ease and will also provide women commuters a safe place to take shelter during rains and storms.
This facility has been created to ensure a gender-friendly environment in the city and a comfortable space for women, reports The Telegraph.
GMC commissioner Monalisa Goswami said that the Panbazar bus shelter is the only one to have a baby feeding facility at present and they are planning to create more such facilities in different parts of the city.
The facility will mostly be beneficial for mothers with babies as they find it quite difficult to feed their babies while travelling.
