The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Saturday sealed an alliance in Assam for the Lok Sabha polls.

As per the seat-sharing arrangement reached between them, AGP will contest from three seats—Kaliabor, Barpeta and Dhubri while Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), another ally of the BJP in the state, will contest in one seat—Kokrajhar, the lone seat in BTAD.

The saffron party will field candidates in the remaining 10 seats in the state.

A BJP and AGP delegation left for New Delhi on Friday to meet BJP national president Amit Shah.

According to party insiders, the seat-sharing agreement was finalized during in the meeting.
