In a road mishap, one person died and four others were injured as the car, in which they were travelling, collided with a truck at Barapani area under the Umiam Police Station near Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya.
It may be mentioned that though the road condition of the Guwahati-Shillong Road, which is popularly known as the GS Road, has improved a lot in the recent times following four-laning of the highway, but road mishaps have continued to take place on the highway.

The car was badly damaged in the collision with the truck.
The road mishap took place on January 13, 2018, the day of Uruka, on which day the other people of Assam were busy in enjoying feasting as part of the Magh Bihu festival.
As per information, there were a total of five persons in the car, including a girl.

All the four persons, who were seriously in the incident, have reportedly been admitted to the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong for treatment.
Sources informed that all of the injured and the deceased are residents of Guwahati. The incident happened when all of them were travelling from Guwahati towards Shillong.
The deceased, who died on the spot, has been identified as Aditya Bajaj, a resident of Sikaria Complex in the city.
The injured have been identified as Karan Shah, Aishwarya Singh, Aayush Sarawgi and Ashwariya Singh. Sources informed that Ashwariya Singh had received serious multiple heap injuries in the mishap.
According to sources, the body of Aditya Bajaj was cremated in the cremation ground at Bhootnath in the city on Sunday after post-mortem.
