All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students Association (ACKHSA) founder president Pradip Dutta Roy has reiterated that Barak Valley in south Assam should break away from Assam.

“Organizations like AASU, KMSS, AGP and even the ULFA have created an atmosphere in the state, wherein, a communal riot between the Bengalis and the Assamese communities might break out any time soon. These acts of KMSS, AGP, AASU and the ULFA would give Assam a minority leader as CM for running the state and he is none but Badruddin Ajmal,” Dutta Roy told reporters here on Tuesday.

He also slammed the government for not taking any action against pro-talk ULFA leader Mrinal Hazarika even after allegedly making inflammatory remark against the Bengali community.

“Even after former ULFA leader Mrinal Hazarika’s comments of entering the houses of Bengalis and plundering them just like their arms movement of the 80s, no action has been taken by the state government so far. But, just for making a comment, Subodh Biswas was put in jail for a long time. What sort of Assam is this?” he told Northeast Now.

ACKHSA leader also questioned the government for not granting permission to the Bengali organisations to hold convention in Guwahati.

“If AGP can hold a massive rally to oppose the Citizens Amendment Bill, why can’t the 26 Bengali organizations hold a mass convention in support of it,” he pointed out.

He further condemned the incident of heckling singer Shaan during a concert in Guwahati on Sunday night. Someone from the audience threw a paper ball at Shaan, when the singer was performing at Guwahati’s Sarusajai stadium. Furious, the singer stopped his performance midway and asked the security men to get the person concerned on stage.

“I don’t know what sort of mentality is this. I had full faith in our CM who tried his level best to bridge the gap between Barak and Brahmaputra valleys, but how long can we keep looking at him.  It’s better to be separated. Separation of Barak Valley will be better for both the valley and Assam,” he said.

Dutta Roy also lashed out at the Congress party for its stand on the Citizens (Amendment) Bill.

He asked AICC general secretary and in charge of Assam, Harish Rawat, who is in Silchar to address a party workers meet ahead of panchayat polls, to make his stand clear on the Bill.
