Another short film, ‘Nyega Aan’ (Man Mom) by Assam’s award-winning young filmmaker Xahid Khan has been released.
Talking to this correspondent, director Khan said: “Nyega Aan (Man Mom) is a Nyishi (the native dialect of Arunachal Pradesh’s Nyishi community) film that revolves around a small family consisting of grandfather, parents and a small boy.”
While actor Tana Noorie is playing the role of the mother, Dr. Techi Upen Tara is playing the role of the father.
Apart from the direction, story and screenplay of the film have also been prepared by Khan himself.
Produced by Yami Lazi, the film has Nabam Jamper in the role of the kid and Licha Aka in the role of the grandfather.
What is there in the story of the film?
Like every day the mother prepares the breakfast for everybody, takes care of the sick old person, her father-in-law, and wakes her husband up as well helps her son to get equipped for the school.
At the dining table when the boy questions the definition of a man, his father answers expectantly.
Hearing the explanation, the small boy gives a reply which surprises everybody and makes them comprehend his reaction.
Khan said, “The film has gone to five festivals till date including two Indian festivals, two in the United Kingdom and one in the USA. We are waiting for the results to come from few more festivals around the globe.”
Regarding the story of the film, Khan said: “It’s all about a mother and women. It’s dedicated to all the mothers and women in the world. Hope, the audience will love the film.”
The film is disturbed by Mumbai-based firm Pocket Films.
It will also be available in their partner YouTube channel Short Films and in major online and offline platforms like iTunes and Flight Screens.
The Nyishi film has Prabin Basumatary in cinematography, Rakesh Bharali as the assistant director.
The Nyishi dialogues have been prepared by Gulapu Tana Nabam and Jompi Jini Nobia.
Jitu Ray is in editing while Jyoti Chetia is in sound design & mixing.
Filmmaker Khan is widely known for his short film ‘Alert – Condition: Red’.
Born in 1991 in a small village of Assam, Khan, who did diploma in filmmaking in Mumbai, has earned diploma in Mass Communication &Journalism.
During his college days in Mumbai, Khan made two graphical short films part of his course projects for which he got offer to work in Shahrukh Khan Production House Red Chillies Entertainment.
But he declined the offer and came to Assam, and started his own journey in filmmaking.
He started his career with his first Hindi film ‘Sand-The love’ in 2015.
The film was screened in mobile theaters throughout the small villages of Assam through and was loved by youngsters and other film-lovers.
After the success, he made ‘Alert-Condition: Red’ which was a semifinalist in Academy Awards (OSCAR) Qualifying Film Festival – Best of Short Film Festival, Los Angles.
For his ‘Alert Condition: Red’, Khan got international recognitions and won many awards including Best Films and Best Directors awards.
‘Mistake’ is his last film which was also screened in many international, national as well as regional film festivals including Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival and won the best film award in Emirates Short Film Festival 2019 in Dubai.
The filmmaker from Assam was nominated for North East India’s ‘Person of The Year’ in 2018 and was able to make entry in the list of North East Top 500 influential people.
He also received the India Star Icon Award in 2019.
