Assam’s COVID19 tally increased to 2,02,073 and the death toll rose to 884 with the detection of 666 new cases and deaths of 9 more people on Tuesday.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said the new cases were detected out of 38,585 tests in the last 24 hours.
Assam’s positivity rate stands at 1.73%.
“666 cases detected out of 38585 tests conducted, with a positivity rate of 1.73%,” health minister Sarma said.
Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro has reported 174 cases.
Meanwhile, 1,201 more patients have been discharged in Assam after their recovery.
The Assam health minister informed that 86.31% of the positive cases have recovered from the disease.
The state currently has 26,775 active COVID19 cases and it is 13.25% of the total cases.

On Tuesday, 9 more patients succumbed to the infection.
“Very sad and anguished to inform that 09 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease,” health minister Sarma said in another tweet.
The deceased have been identified as Bharati Nandi (62), Shahadat All (58), Samir Kumar Roy (60) of Kamrup Metro; Chatanya Phukan (47), Lakheswar Baruah (60), Dombaru Buragohain (65) of Golaghat; Gulap Kanu (35), Bina Das (55) of Tinsukia and Bhadreswar Hazarika (70) of Biswanath.
“My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief,” Sarma said.
