Guwahati: The Assam Youth Conclave 2026, organised by the Hiteswar Saikia Foundation, will be held on January 24 and 25 with the objective of placing youth voices at the centre of policy discourse and development planning in the state.

The two-day conclave will bring together students, young professionals, academicians, journalists, activists, and policymakers from across Assam to deliberate on contemporary issues critical to the state’s future.

Inspired by the legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the initiative aims to go beyond symbolic consultation by creating a structured platform for direct interaction between young participants and experienced stakeholders.

The conclave is being organised under the chief patronage of Dr. Hemoprabha Saikia. Its patrons include Debabrata Saikia, Bandana Saikia, Ashok Saikia, Purabi Saikia, Gautam Saikia, and Mamata Saikia.

The chief advisors are Abdul Khaleque, Paban Singh Ghatowar, and Pradyut Bhuyan, while Raman Jha and Sailen Sonowal will serve as advisors.

According to the organisers, the programme will feature six thematic sessions focusing on economic security and entrepreneurship, challenges confronting Assam’s media, women’s safety in physical and digital spaces, the role of religion in state politics, Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, and the sustainability of Assam’s ecosystems in the face of climate change.

Each session will be moderated by senior professionals and will include panellists drawn from law, academia, journalism, social activism, and environmental studies.

The organisers said the conclave seeks to encourage informed dialogue, ethical leadership, and meaningful civic engagement at a time when Assam is navigating significant economic, social, and environmental transitions.
