Baan Theatre Family on Wednesday paid rich tributes to Natasurya Phani Sharma on his 49th death anniversary at his Kolibari crematorium in Assam’s Tezpur.
For commemorating the cultural icon, the Baan Theatre family with the support of different civil organizations is celebrating the golden jubilee year of the Natasurya Phani Sharma Drama Festival with a week-long programme from Wednesday.

Attending the august event besides a handful of dignitaries including the media fraternity deputy commissioner of Sonitpur Narshing Pawar paid rich tribute to the ‘Natasurya’.
After paying tribute to the cultural legend, Narshing Pawar met his family members at their residence and announced that an amount of Rs one crore has been allocated under the city infrastructure development fund (CIDF) for the development of the crematorium at Kolibari.
It was followed by other scheduled events including lighting of the lamp, commemoration and award giving programme etc.

The programmes were graced by son of Natasurya Phani Sharma, Sujit Sharma, retired principal, noted playwright, Bhaben Bora, Tezpur MP, Pallab Lochan Das, MLA, Brindaban Goswami, vice chairman of AMTRON, Ritubaran Sharma, and chairman, Assam Text Book and Publication, Rajen Barthakur.
