Kalaguru Sangeet Mahotsav– one of the largest cultural extravaganzas of Assam, will be hosted at Tangla HS School playground on January 30 and January 31, 2020.

This was announced by renowned musician Zubeen Garg during an anti-CAA protest rally organised jointly by the artiste fraternity and AASU on Thursday.

Popular actor Pabitra Rabha, who is a close friend of Garg, told this correspondent, “Every year this music festival is hosted by Zubeen Garg.”

“However, this time the business and educational institutions of Udalguri district will partner Garg in his endeavour as a homage to the legendary Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha,” he added.

“Though the programme schedule is yet to be prepared we have chalked out plans for holding seminars on the life and history of the Kalaguru and other legendary singers of Assam,” Rabha added.

“We will also pitch for and make efforts to preserve their rich heritage and would try to carry forward their legacy,” he reiterated.

The two-day extravaganza will also include exhibitions, musical nights and folk teams representing diverse ethnic communities of Northeast are also likely to perform in the event.

A statue of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha is also likely to be erected in Tangla town during the event.
