Prime accused in the Assam police SI recruitment paper leak scam, former DIG PK Dutta, was arrested in Nepal by a team of West Bengal police.

He will be brought to Assam later on the night.

He was arrested from Kakarbhitta area in India-Nepal border.

Police sources informed that Dutta was arrested by the police while he was on his to Assam to surrender.

He is presently kept in Panitanky in Siliguri.

The former IPS officer has been absconding since September 20, the day when the Assam government cancelled a written exam to recruit 597 sub-inspectors to the police force.

The examination was cancelled after the exam question paper was leaked and circulated on social media.

The additional director general of police (law & order) GP Singh interacting with the media on Saturday informed that the former IPS officer and his son Ishan are suspected to have fled to Nepal by road after the scam was exposed.

It may be mentioned here that Dutta’s daughter is married to a Nepali citizen, who is a resident of Kathmandu.
