Former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) PK Dutta, who is one of the prime accused in the SI recruitment scam in Assam, is believed to be hiding in Nepal and he will be caught in a few days.
The former IPS officer has been absconding since September 20, the day when the Assam government cancelled a written exam to recruit 597 sub-inspectors to the police force.
The examination was cancelled after the exam question paper was leaked and circulated on social media.

The additional director general of police (law & order) GP Singh interacting with the media on Saturday informed that the former IPS officer and his son Ishan are suspected to have fled to Nepal by road after the scam was exposed.
It may b mentioned here that Dutta’s daughter is married to a Nepali citizen, who is a resident of Kathmandu.

The former IPS officer along with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Diban Deka are suspected to have cheated several candidates for posts of sub-inspectors by assuring them jobs in lieu of cash.
The former DIG is alleged to have procured the question paper ahead of the written test.
During the police investigation, it has been revealed that that several candidates took a mock test on September 19- a day ahead of the test- in a Guwahati hotel.

It may be mentioned here that around 70 candidates were staying at one of the five hotels that the former DIG owns in Guwahati.
