In a bone-chilling incident of fratricide, which has sent chill down people’s spines at Dumuria Village in Bajali subdivision, twenty-eight-year-old Khargeswar Kalita of the said village attacked his younger brother Diganta Kalita, 22, with a sharp weapon after a scuffle broke out between the duo and stabbed the latter to death.

The incident happened on Wednesday evening. Dumuria village falls under Pathacharkuchi police station in Pathsala under Barpeta district.

Though the villagers immediately informed the police, but, since Diganta suffered serious injuries, he died on the spot and the body was bought to Pathsala police outpost. Though Khargeswar tried to flee from the scene, but, the police managed to overpower and arrest him.

A case has been registered against the accused under case no 396/18 and he was produced before the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), Bajali, on Thursday, who sent him to police custody. Niranjan Kalita,

The victim’s body has been sent for postmortem to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College, Barpeta. A sense of insecurity is prevailing among the people in Bajali area over this gory incident.
