Students of Barpeta Madhab Choudhury College in Barpeta district took out a peace rally on Thursday in protest against the mob lynching of two artistes from Guwahati – Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath – at Panjuri village under Dokmoka Police Station in Karbi Anglong district.

The student protestors demanded exemplary punishment of the culprits involved in the brutal murder of the two youths suspecting them to be ‘child lifters’.

Both the artistes – Nilotpal Das and Abhijeet Nath – were on a day’s vacation to Karbi Anglong.

The protestors also displayed placards conveying peace messages during the rally.

Meanwhile, the Biswanath district unit and the Biswanath Ghat regional unit of Durniti Birodhi Yubashakti, Asom in association with the locals also paid homage to the deceased near Biswanath Ghat Post office.

Durniti Birodhi Yubashakti, Asom central committee organisaing secretary Gaurab Jyoti Bharali, Biswanath district unit president Sushanta Saikia, general secretary Dipankar Saikia and other activists of the organisation were present in the programme.
