Lower primary school teachers in Assam have announced agitation from March 1 demanding regularisation of their jobs.

The teachers have announced their agitation under the banner of Nimna Vidyalayar Karmarata Sahakari (3rd post) Shikshak Santha.

The school teachers have also threatened to boycott the upcoming Assam Assembly election.

Notably, there are as many as 700 lower primary school teachers in Assam.

Even after several assurances from the State Government, the jobs of these teachers are yet to be regularised.

Biswajit Chetri, working president of the Santha said, “If the Government fails to regularize our jobs within two days then we will hold protests across the State from March 1.”

“We will also boycott the upcoming Assam Assembly elections,” Chetri added.
