The Kamrup (Metro) district administration on Tuesday demolished the “illegal” residence of RTI activist Dulal Bora situated at Koinadhar in Guwahati.

The three-storey house was demolished after the Gauhati High Court had previously ordered to demolish Bora’s illegal bungalow in Guwahati.

The anti-encroachment team demolished Bora’s bungalow in the presence of police along with PWD and GMC officials.

Only a portion of the bungalow was demolished on Tuesday and the rest of it will be demolished on Wednesday.

On December 7, 2019, Bora was arrested by the Hatigaon police for allegedly blackmailing a motor vehicle inspector (MVI) Naimuddin Ali, who had filed an FIR against the RTI activist.

In the FIR, Ahmed mentioned that Bora demanded a sum of Rs 5 lakh from him.

The Hatigaon police on December 10, 2019, raided Bora’s residence and seized several incriminating documents including bank papers.
