Assam health and education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday laid the foundation stone of several development projects at Barpeta Road in the Barpeta district.

These are mainly road projects, which when implemented will augment better connectivity of different areas of Barpeta along with the adjoining districts.

The minister in a tweet said that the projects will greatly improve the infrastructure in the district.

The projects will be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 166.64 crores.

The minister also participated in a bike rally organized by the Barpeta district unit of BJP.

“Laid foundation stone of several development projects worth Rs 166.64 cr at Barpeta Road in presence of MLA Sri @RanjeetkrDass today. The projects on completion shall ensure better connectivity & improved infrastructure in Barpeta & nearby dist,” Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass, who also represents the Sorbhog state assembly constituency, was also present on the occasion.

The Assam government has been busy introducing various welfare schemes and launching several development projects across the state ahead of the upcoming state assembly polls.

The schemes target different categories of people, who comprise a substantial vote bank in the state.
