Assam sericulture and handloom and textiles minister, Ranjit Dutta on Tuesday unfurled the national tricolor and inspected the parade during the Republic Day celebrations in North Lakhimpur.
Dutta paid his tributes to the martyrs and freedom fighters of the country whose sacrifices made India helped India attain its independence from the British.
Police and paramilitary forces, NCC, Scouts and Guides and students of various educational institutes took part in the Republic Day parade in North Lakhimpur.
Similar celebrations were also held in the Dhakuakhana sub-division, where sub-divisional officer-Civil J. Rahul Suresh unfurled the national flag.

National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTCP), Bongaigaon also celebrated the occasion by presenting the HOP Meritorious Awards to 30 employees from various departments for their outstanding performance in their respective fields.
The Corporation also felicitated four employees for their safety initiatives and proactive approach towards a safe working environment.
The CISF Fire Wing enthralled the audience by staging a water show and various stunts showcasing their skills and defence expertise.
