Assam reported 63 more Covid19 deaths and 5,347 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.

The news has been confirmed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Saturday night.

According to the data, shared by the Assam chief minister, the new positive cases were confirmed out of 64,701 tests.

The overall positivity percentage of Assam stands at 8.26%.

Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district alone reported 1,012 cases.

The state’s recovery rate stands at 85.39%, chief minister Sarma informed.

“Summary of 15/5/2021 – Today’s Total 5347; Overall Positivity Percentage (5347 cases out of 64701 test done = 8.26%); Kamrup(M) 1012; Death 63; Recovery Rate 85.39%,” Assam chief minister Sarma tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Assam government has directed that all the shops and commercial establishments across the state would shut down their shutters at 11 AM with effect from May 16, 2021.

The decision has been taken in view of the rising Covid19 cases across Assam.

On Saturday, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta, who has started visiting various Covid Care Centres, held a meeting at Nagaon DC office.

He had discussion with the Nagaon deputy commissioner, Nagaon MLA Rupak Sarmah, Barhampur MLA Jitu Goswami, officials of the health and PHE departments regarding the Covid19 situation in Nagaon.

Health minister Mahanata directed installation of 40 oxygen beds in Nagaon BP Civil and to ensure medical supplies for Covid19 & prioritise sanitization.
