Assam recorded 30 more Covid19 deaths and 1,775 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.

The news has been confirmed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Sunday evening.

While sharing the Covid19 update of Assam, chief minister Sarma in the tweet said the new cases were confirmed out of 78,050 tests.

The overall Covid19 positivity percentage on Sunday stood at 2.27%, according to the data shared by the Assam chief minister.

Of the new Covid19 cases, the Kamrup Metro district registered a total of 133 cases.

While 30 more patients lost their lives due to Covid19 infection on Sunday, hundreds of other patients recovered from the disease.

The state’s recovery rate stood at 92.17% on Sunday.

“Summary of 20/6/2021 – Today’s Total 1775; Overall Positivity Percentage (1775 cases out of 78,050 test done = 2.27%); Kamrup (M) 133; Death 30; Recovery Rate 92.17%,” chief minister Sarma tweeted.

On Saturday, Assam registered 40 Covid19 deaths and 3,571 new positive cases.

The new Covid19 cases were confirmed out of 1,61,420 tests on Saturday.

The overall Covid19 positivity rate on Saturday stood at 2.21%.

On Friday, the state recorded a total of 3,706 new Covid19 cases and the cases were confirmed out of 1,71,920 tests.

The overall Covid19 positivity percentage in Assam stood at 2.16 on Friday.

Of the new Covid19 cases, the Kamrup Metro district on Friday registered 204 cases.

Assam chief minister Sarma on Sunday said the state government’s efforts continue to contain Covid19.

“Our efforts to contain #COVID19 continue. We must now lower the vigil,” Sarma tweeted.

Chief minister on Sunday held a meeting at the DC office in Dibrugarh where he reviewed the Covid19 situation in the district.

“Today at DC office, Dibrugarh, reviewed COVID-19 situation & preparedness in the district. Asked authorities to focus on intensive vaccination and creation of PICU units,” the chief minister said.

Meanwhile, the Assam government on Sunday instructed all health institutes in the state to minimise the use of steroids for Covid19 treatment to control the rise in black fungus cases.

“We have issued fresh protocols instructing minimal use of steroid in the treatment of Covid19 patients. As soon as the number of COVID cases decrease, we will be able to control black fungus cases also,” chief minister Sarma said.
