Assam has registered 1,047 new COVID19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s overall tally to 28,791.
Confirming the news, in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said out of the new positive cases, a total of 219 cases have been detected in Guwahati city.
“Alert ~ 1047 new #COVID19 cases detected in Assam on July 23, with 219 in Guwahati City alone,” health minister Sarma tweeted.
The health minister informed that in the last 24 hours, more than 19,000 COVID19 tests were conducted in various laboratories across Assam and the state’s positivity rate is 5.25%.
“With 19,000 + tests in 24 hrs, our positivity rate is a tiny 5.25%,” Sarma tweeted.
Assam currently has 9,368 active cases while a total of 19,350 patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have recovered from the disease.
The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 70 positive patients.
Assam recorded four more COVID19 deaths on Thursday.
The patients, who have succumbed to COVID19 infections, have been identified as 75-year-old BL Ajit Saria from Kamrup Metro, 43-year-old Baldev Singh from Jammu & Kashmir, 40-year-old Samim Ahmed from Karimganj and 53-year-old Dilip Kr Roy from Kokrajhar district.
