With the detection of 55 new cases, the total number of COVID19 positive cases in Manipur reached 2,115 on Thursday while the total active and recovered cases stand at 655 and 1,460 respectively.

In the past last 24 hours, 55 persons, including 50 males and 5 females, were confirmed as COVID19 positive cases at VRD laboratories.

While 28 cases were detected at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), 13 cases were detected at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and 12 cases were detected at the district hospital of Thoubal and 2 cases were tested positive at Babina Diagnostics lab.

This was stated in an official statement issued by the COVID19 common control centre.

The infected patients belong to the districts of Imphal West (6), Kakching (3), Kamjong (1), Leimakhong Garrison, Kangpokpi (12), Tengnoupal (1), Thoubal (31) and Ukhrul (1).

They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities.

While 12 patients from Thoubal district had local contact history, the rest are returnees from other states, it said.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the statement said.

In the last 24 hours, 42 persons have been discharged from COVID care centres at Meitram in Imphal West (27), Senapati (3), Kakching (3), RD Wing, Lamphel (6) and Thoubal (3) after they tested COVID19 negative in RT PCR test.

With the latest development, the cumulative number of positive cases in the state is 2,115.

The total numbers of active and recovered cases are 655 and 1,460 respectively, it stated.

The recovery rate is 69.03 per cent.

As of Thursday, 3,13,494 people were screened at various entry points of the state while 74,614 samples were tested for COVID19, according to the latest report of the state surveillance officer of the integrated disease surveillance programme.

As per the report, 58,825 people have completed their quarantine while 2,771 were still at various quarantine centres in the state.
