Assam has registered 1,018 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 23,999.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said out of the 1,018 new positive cases, Guwahati alone has reported 577 cases.
“Alert ~ 1018 new #COVID19 ve+ patients reported in Assam today, with 577 cases from Guwahati City alone,” health minister Sarma tweeted at 12.05 am on Monday, adding, “Important to follow containment measures.”
Assam currently has 7,916 COVID19 active cases.
Earlier, a total of 16,023 COVID19 patients were discharged from various hospitals across Assam after they tested negative for the virus.
On Sunday, a total of 858 patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from the hospitals in the state.
Sharing the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in an earlier tweet said: “Discharge Alert. Good news for again as 858 patients have been discharged today.”
Four more persons died of COVID19 in Assam on Sunday, taking the state’s COVID fatality tally to 57.
The four deceased have been identified as Pramod Chandra Sarma (62) of Kamrup Metro), Binapani Das (78) of Kamrup (Metro), SK Wagle (46) of Cachar) and Prasanta Saikia (74) of Tinsukia.
