The ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ or ‘National Nutrition Month’ initiative, as a part of the Poshan Abhiyan, kick started on Monday in Assam’s Kokrajhar.

Bodoland Territorial Council executive member in-charge of Social Welfare department Mrityunjoy Narzary flagged off the Poshan Rally.

Kokrajhar additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Debeswar Bora, Kokrajhar district social welfare officer Sameswar Mushahary, among others were present on the occasion.

The rally started from Kokrajhar Government Higher Secondary School playground and marched through the streets of Kokrajhar town to the District Social Welfare Officer Kokrajhar.

Talking to reporters, BTC executive member in-charge of Social Welfare department Mrityunjoy Narzary said the observance of Poshan Maah has started with a missionary zeal while holding various events.

Emphasizing transforming this unique initiative into a mass movement, Narzary said that a vigorous campaign would have to be undertaken at the grassroots level, like block and villages, to raise awareness regarding the importance of health and nutritional diet.

ICDS Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers & Helpers participated in the rally.
