Arunachal Pradesh chief secretary Naresh Kumar on Friday chaired a review meeting in connection with the celebration of Rashtriya Poshan Maah under POSHAN Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) in the State.

POSHAN Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) is India’s flagship programme, launched in March 2018 to improve nutritional status of children up to six years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

This is aimed at achieving specific targets for reduction in low birth weight babies, stunting growth, under nutrition and prevalence of anemia over next three years.

Rashtriya Poshan Maah will be celebrated in the month of September this year.

For smooth and successful celebration of the mission, the chief secretary emphasized on coordination between the Women and Child Development department (nodal department) and line departments.

These include which include the health and family welfare, PHE and Water Sanitation, education, agriculture, horticulture etc departments.

Kumar asked the departments concerned to ensure that POSHAN reaches every household during the month.

He also directed the WCD department to upload all reports and activities undertaken during the celebration of in the Jan Andolan dashboard of the POSHAN Abhiyaan.

Among others, WCD secretary Niharika Rai, health and family welfare secretary Juhi Mukherjee, PHE secretary Dani Sulu, WCD director Tokmem Pertin Loyi, POSHAN Abhiyaan state nodal officer D K Thungon were present in the meeting.
