Co-producer of the most awaited Assamese film ‘The Underworld’ on Wednesday denied any possible motive behind the release of the movie just one week after the release of critically acclaimed film Village Rockstars to hamper the latter’s market.

Youth icon Zubeen Garg’s film ‘The Underworld’ is all set to get released on October 5 next.

It may be mentioned that noted film maker Rima Das’s Village Rockstars was released on September 28 last.

Talking to media persons in Guwahati on Wednesday, co-producer of ‘The Underworld’ Gautam Chakraborty said it was ‘a tough decision for us to release the movie in the following week after the Village Rockstars got released’.

“We had no option but to release as the date was fixed earlier. Our motive was not to hamper Village Rockstars’ market but it is indeed a privilege for us that our movie is releasing following Rockstars. We congratulate Rima for her success and also would like  to request the people to help her movie for the Oscars,” Chakraborty said.

Chakraborty further said, “There must be an understanding between Village Rockstars and The Underworld for shows. A total of 180 shows happen across the State. So it won’t be a big matter to divide show numbers with Village Rockstars.”

Meanwhile, singer Zubeen Garg appealed to the people of Assam to contribute to Village Rockstars to make it to the Oscars.

“She (Rima Das) needs more than Rs three crores for promotion of her film. People are going to cinema halls to watch and contribute fund which is a good sign for the Assamese film industry,” Zubeen said.

Zubeen also dedicated the film to veteran actor of the Assamese film industry Biju Phukan who passed away on November 22 last year.

Director of the film Rajesh Jashpal informed that most parts of the movie ‘The Underworld’ were shot in Mumbai.

At a time when noted film maker Rima Das’s Village Rockstars has made all the way to Oscars, heartthrob of youngsters singer Zubeen Garg and his team are all set to release the film ‘The Underworld’ on October 5 in all major cities of the country including Assam.
