The change in guards at Dispur has not brought changes to the fate of people of Udalguri district. The Government, which roars of its ‘zero tolerance’ stance on corruption has miserably failed when it comes to the undeterred corruption by a section of erring contractors of the State.

The poor quality of the building construction of Harisinga Model Hospital in Udalguri, which is yet to be inaugurated has raised eyebrows of the locals and has drawn strong resentment of the students’ organizations including the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU).

The Harisinga regional unit of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) has expressed strong resentment on the fact that the hospital walls have developed cracks owing to the lackadaisical attitude of the contractor and the officials concerned.

Talking to media persons, assistant general secretary of the students’ organisation, Rinjoy Boro alleged that the newly-constructed hospital building of Harisinga Model Hospital has been marked by a number of cracks due to use of low quality construction materials.

The students’ leader sought immediate intervention of the Udalguri district administration and the State Government for a high-level inquiry into the fact and take stern action against the erring people involved in the construction and the Government officials concerned at the earliest failing which the students’ organisation threatened to take agitational programmes.

The Harisinga regional unit of the ABSU also lodged an FIR with Harisinga Police against the contractor, Ashok Bajaj and the National Health Mission (NHM) officials in this regard.
