The National Health Mission (NHM) has approved a model hospital for Nazira constituency in Sivasagar district.
The 30-beded model hospital will come up at Baulipukhuri area in Nazira in an effort to provide better medical care to the residents of the constituency, especially the tea garden workers.
Debabrata Saikia, leader of opposition, who represents the Nazira constituency, expressed happiness over the development.
“I am glad that the NHM has finally approved the model hospital for Nazira constituency. I pursued with the NHM for long time for setting up the hospital here. This will fulfil a long-felt need of the residents of my constituency,” Saikia told Northeast Now.
Ramesh Munda, a resident of Baulipukhuri area, said the woes of people would end with the construction of the hospital.
The hospital would be two storied with separate quarters for doctors and nurse quarters within the hospital complex, the source said.
It would be equipped with a family welfare clinic, labour room with baby corner, stabilization room, baby-feeding room, septic delivery room and an examination and treatment room.
