BCCI panelist umpires as well as seasoned state and BCCI coaches Satrajit Lahiri and Somnath Jha on Thursday interacted with the budding cricketers of Silchar.
Lahiri and Jha arrived at Silchar on Thursday to attend a two-day State level Umpires’ Seminar-cum-Workshop.
Held at District Sports Association’s (DSA) conference hall, more than sixty cricketers of all age groups under Silchar Cricket Academy, had a tete-a-tete with both the coaches.
Satrajit Lahiri, head coach of MS Dhoni cricket academies in India and abroad, spoke at length with the budding cricketers of Silchar and stressed on setting a target to achieve their dream of playing one-day cricket for India.
Lahiri added, “The cricket coaching styles of yesteryears has changed a lot as modern cricket coaching has shifted to identifying a particular problem and solving it until and unless the goals are achieved.”
Somnath Jha, an NCA level coach of Jharkhand, also stressed on working hard to be the best among the rest.
Jha said, “One has to set goals and work very hard, which a coach can teach as to how to do it. But an individual can become a champion only due to his or her perseverance.”
“Both the NCA level coaches and BCCI panelist umpires would conduct a seminar-cum-workshop for the next two days.”
“Roping them for their expertise to help the budding cricketers of Silchar Cricket Academy is an icing on the cake,” said Bijendra Prasad Singh, the president of Silchar Veteran Cricketers Club (SVCC).
SVCC has invited both the two BCCI panelist umpires.
The SVCC made arrangement for more than 40 Assam Cricket Association (ACA) umpires from various districts to take part in this seminar wherein honorary secretary of ACA, Devajit Saikia too would grace the occasion on September 13.
