As Dr Bhupen Hazarika Stadium at Barsapara in Guwahati of Assam is all set to play host to the first One Day International between India and West Indies on Sunday, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president C K Khanna along with his wife on Saturday met Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi at the latter’s office in Raj Bhavan and invited him to the match.
The Governor accepted the invitation and said that he would be present at the venue for the inaugural match.

It may be noted that since Guwahati is hosting the first of the five ODI between the two nations, the BCCI president requested the Governor to be present at the series opener.
Earlier, last year Barsapara stadium hosted the first ever T 20 encounter between India and Australia which the visiting team had won.
