GUWAHATI: The Assam government has proposed merger of state board exams for class 10 and 12.
The proposal was made by the Assam government on Wednesday (February 07).

The Assam government proposed to merge the state boards for Class 10 and 12 to make one single entity in order to manage secondary education.
The state government introduced Assam State School Education Board Bill 2024 in the assembly for creating a new body to control the education system till class 12 in the state.

According to the bill, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will be merged to create a new body.
The new board, created after merging of SEBA and AHSEC, will be named Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB).
The bill has been brought to “regulate, supervise and develop secondary education in the state of Assam by merging the existing Board of Secondary Education, Assam and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council”.
