Guwahati: The Green Chapter Foundation, a dedicated environmental NGO, celebrated its Second Annual Day on February 6, 2024, in Guwahati, Assam with a program raising awareness about global warming and other pressing environmental issues.
Held at the Alumni Hall of Cotton University, the event drew a sizeable crowd of students, teachers, and environmentalists eager to learn and engage.

The program revolved around the central theme of “Role of Trees and Forests in Mitigating Climate Change.”
Guests, Dr Arup Mishra, Chairman of the Assam Pollution Control Board, and Dr Shasanka Sekhar Borkotoky, Assistant Professor at Assam Engineering College, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively, and delivered insightful lectures on the topic.
Additionally, Dr Dilip Kakoti, Retired Professor from Guwahati University, delivered a compelling keynote address highlighting the crucial role trees and forests play in combating global warming.

Marking a special moment, the Foundation launched its online magazine, “Newsletter,” featuring articles written by prominent environmentalists and students, aiming to foster wider engagement and knowledge sharing.
Further encouraging environmental consciousness, an essay writing competition was organized among school students on the theme “In my view, the role of individual and society in rejuvenation of River Bharalu.”
The winners, Rohan Das of Army Public School, Narengi (first prize), and Sadhika Naorem and Ishan Baruah (jointly second prize) from the same school, were felicitated during the event.
