AIZAWL: Security forces in Mizoram averted a major tragedy by recovering and seizing a huge quantity of explosive materials.

Troopers of the Assam Rifles seized a huge cache of explosives and detonators along the Sangau Pankhua road in Lawgtlai district of Mizoram.

As many as 150 kilograms of explosives, 1800 detonators and over three kilometres of Cordex after intercepting a vehicle and checking it thoroughly.

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the seizure of the explosive materials.

The arrested persons have been identified as: Siama Thanga (50) and Amengi (40), both residents of Lawngtlai district in Mizoram.

According to reports, the seized explosives were intended for resistance forces in Myanmar.

Meanwhile, the Mizoram police have taken custody of the arrested individuals and the seized items.
