Kokrajhar Police on Sunday seized a container truck, which was illegally carrying cattle at Srirampur check gate.

The operation was carried out by the Kokrajhar Police on the basis of information received from its source.

The cattle-laden container truck, which was seized by the Kokrajhar Police, bears registration No. WB91-3014.

During checking, the police were able to recover a total of 38 cattle heads.

Kokrajhar Police apprehended five persons in connection with the seizure.

The apprehended persons are residents of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.

The arrested accused have been identified as Aleem Khan, son of Anwar Khan, a resident of Aurangabad village in Uttar Pradesh and Sadek Ali, son of Khuda Baksh, a resident of Uttar Deshnapur in West Bengal.

The other arrested are Kaleem Uddin, son of Tashleem Uddin, a resident of Kishanganj in Bihar; Haril Yadav, son of Sankar Yadav, a resident of Katihar in Bihar and Turab Ali, son of Mokbul Hussain, a resident of Dewna, Golpukor in West Bengal.

“The arrested persons were carrying the cattle illegally in the container truck. Legal action is being initiated,” police said.
