Giving an indication that the bed capacity in the two Covid Care hospitals in Darrang district is not sufficient to deal with the growing cases of Covid19, the district administration again declared the Kendriya Vidyalaya Mangaldai as a Covid Care Centre.

In a notification, the Darrang deputy commissioner on Sunday announced his decision.

In the first wave of Covid19, the school was used as a Covid Care Centre.

The offline classes from Class VI had begun since April 5 last.

Meanwhile, all the 45 beds in the Covid ward of Mangaldai Civil Hospital have been occupied by patients on Saturday evening.

The old building of the hospital has also been declared as a Covid hospital in a separate notification of the deputy commissioner on Sunday.

The Covid19 positivity rate of Darrang district stands at 18.27%.

The district reported 139 new Covid19 cases out of 761 cases detected on Saturday during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).

The cumulative figure of positive cases has gone up to 1,752 with 998 cases still remaining active.
