The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang, has extended financial support to the tune of Rs 1 lakh for judo player Pooja Basumatary.

The KAAC CEM has come forward to help the talented judo player from Langhin in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, who has been able to get entry in the list of national players selected for the next Commonwealth Judo Championship.

Ronghang is also the president of Karbi Anglong Sports Association.

Pooja Basumatary is going to represent India in the upcoming Commonwealth Judo Championship to be held at London in the last week of September, 2019.

She is going to participate in the 57 kg category.

It may be mentioned that Pooja Basumatary got selected for her performance in the Khelo India Games held last time.

Currently Pooja is undergoing vigorous training at Gwalior.

Ronghang has congratulated Pooja for being selected to represent India and wishes her all the best for her future endeavours.

Terming Pooja Basumatary a ‘pride of Karbi Anglong’, CEM Ronghang on his Twitter handle on Thursday stated: “Miss Pooja Basumatary of Langhin, pride of Karbi Anglong, is going to represent India in the upcoming #CommonWealth #Judo Championship to held in #London during last week of September 2019.”

“I extended One lakh rupees to encourage her. All the best to Pooja!” he added.
