Senior journalist Atanu Bhuyan will be contesting the Rajya Sabha election and he is likely to be Bharatiya Janata Party‘s third candidate.
His nomination papers were collected on Thursday by journalist Moon Goswami.
He is likely to come face-to-face with fellow journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, who is fielded jointly by the Congress and the AIUDF.
On Wednesday, Bhubaneswar Kalita and Biswajit Daimary also filed their nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha polls.
Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, meanwhile, hinted of supporting Bhuyan.
“We will support any candidate against the joint candidate of Congress and AIUDF,” Sarma said while interacting to reporters in Guwahati.
