Guwahati: Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer Manvendra Pratap Singh has vacated a government community hall in Guwahati that he was allegedly using to store his personal belongings.
The development came after Northeast Now reported on September 8 that Singh was continuing to use the community hall at the Forest Colony in Rehabari for personal storage.
Sources said Singh vacated the hall on September 29. He had reportedly been asked several times by the Assam Forest Department to remove his belongings from the facility.
Singh, a 2012-batch IAS officer currently serving as Commissioner of the Assam Transport Department, was earlier allotted accommodation at the Forest Colony in Rehabari.

According to allegations, he had occupied two flats at the colony simultaneouslyโresiding in one while using the other to store excess personal belongings.

Singh has since been allotted a flat at the IAS Officersโ Colony in Khanapara and has vacated both flats at Rehabari.
However, the controversy over his use of government facilities emerged after he allegedly continued to occupy the ground-floor community hall at the Forest Colony for personal storage, despite no longer residing there.
According to the allegations, the community hall had been used to store his belongings for more than two years. The Assam Forest Department reportedly wrote to Singh on several occasions, asking him to clear the premises.
The prolonged use of the facility had allegedly restricted access to the community hall, which is intended as a common facility for officers and residents of the colony.
With Singh now having vacated the hall, the facility has reportedly been cleared for common use.
