Guwahati: A house at Rangapara in Assam’s Sonitpur district was completely destroyed in a fire on Friday night, with the only resident managing to escape unharmed.
The incident occurred near Rangapara Railway New Colony, where Prabhat Das’s residence caught fire under circumstances still under investigation.
The flames spread quickly, reducing the house to ashes in a short time.
Locals reported that Das, who lives alone, escaped just in time, avoiding any casualties. Firefighters rushed to the scene, but the fire’s intensity prevented them from saving the structure.
While the exact cause of the blaze is not yet confirmed, residents speculate that it may have started from sparks while Das was lighting a fire to stay warm during the winter chill.
Authorities are investigating the matter and have yet to release further details.
