In an effort to make Hojai district of Assam free from single use plastic, Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) took out Swachhata Hi Seva 2019 rally in Hojai on Thursday.

Around 200 college students participated in the rally along with the staff’s of PHE department holding banner which read message as ‘If you cannot reuse it, refuse it’, ‘We want Plastic Free Hojai’ etc.

The rally began from Hojai Girl’s College which culminated at PWD IB in New market.

During the rally, they also cleaned the areas.

A street play was also organized by students to highlight the ill-effects of plastic on environment.

Talking to this correspondent, Amal Bhagwati, executive engineer said, “As we know plastic is dangerous for the environment, we have taken an initiative to aware people about its bad impact as such today street plays, rally were organized.”
