Sensation prevails in Rangapara-Gerugajuli area under Rangapara police station in Sonitpur district after killing of a villager by unidentified gunman in the area.
According to sources, the deceased, identified as 27-year-old Moni Basumatary, a resident of No. 4 Gerugajuli village, was sleeping outside his house while some miscreants shot at him at point-blank range in which he died on the spot.
Hearing the sound of gunfire, the the wife of the deceased and the neighbours came out but to witness the bullet-ridden body of the Moni.
The locals immediately informed the competent authority including Rangapara Police and the circle officer of Chardwar Revenue Circle, who after receiving the information immediately rushed to the spot and took stock of
the situation.
The culprits involved in the incident are yet to be nabbed till the filing of this news report.
The motive of the murder is also yet to be known.
The Rangapara Police have started investigation into the incident.
The additional superintendent of police of Sonitpur district, Numal Mahatta, has assured that the culprits involved in the killing would be apprehended soon.
