The Dhubri district administration on Tuesday issued guidelines, imposing restrictions on the movement of all types of vehicles during Durga Puja from October 12-15.

The district administration has issued the guidelines to ensure safety of the public, especially the vulnerable road users and to give free passage to emergency vehicles like fire, ambulance and to ensure peaceful celebration of Durga Puja Festival.

Dhubri deputy commissioner Anbamuthan MP has issued fresh directives in view of the traffic congestion in Dhubri municipality area during Durga Puja.

“It is felt necessary to streamlining traffic restriction/regulation of entry of vehicles within Dhubri Municipal Area during peak evening hours to facilitate easy movement of devotees/ general public to visit different Puja Mandaps in and around the Dhubri Municipality area. Accordingly, it is hereby ordered that police will restrict regulate entry of vehicles within the Dhubri Municipality area from 12/10/2021 to 15/10/2021 as per time schedule shown below,” said the order.

The order said the movements/plying of all types of two-wheeler/scooter/three-wheelers (Tempo/Auto rickshaw/E-rickshaw) and all kinds of LMV/SUV/HMVs (including hired vehicle) will be banned between 4 PM to 5 AM of the next day.

The movement of all types of heavy vehicles will be restricted between 8 in the morning to 12 midnight, said order.

The Dhubri district administration has directed the Dhubri superintendent of police to make necessary and effective traffic plan for regulation and restrictions of vehicular entry and exist within the municipality board area including plan for imposition of one-way traffic wherever necessary to avoid unnecessary traffic congestion.

However, this order shall not be applicable to law enforcing agencies including Magistrates/Police /Army/CAPF and other such law enforcing agencies including ambulance of any type carrying patients to and fro Dhubri Civil Hospital and other referral hospital and doctors and other paramedical staff on duty and such other essential public services like fire services/electricity/water supply/municipal services, milk services, etc.
