Guwahati: Dr Anupam Sarma, Assistant Professor in the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam, has secured a place among the world’s top 2% of scientists for 2026.
This global recognition is based on single-year impact metrics compiled from the Stanford University and Elsevier global scientists’ database. The assessment considers citations, the h-index and other standardised bibliometric measures reflecting the impact of researchers’ scientific contributions.
Dr Sarma’s research focuses on pharmaceutical sciences, advanced drug delivery systems, nanotechnology-based therapeutics, bionanomaterials and extracellular vesicles. His work explores innovative approaches to improving drug delivery, developing biocompatible materials and using small extracellular vesicles (sEVs), commonly known as exosomes, as potential carriers for targeted therapeutic delivery.
He was recently invited to speak at VESICON 2026, organised by the Indian Extracellular Vesicle Society at AIIMS, New Delhi, from October 5 to 7, 2026. His lecture, titled โSmall Extracellular Vesicles: The Journey from Biological Messengers to Smart Drug Carriers,โ highlighted emerging opportunities in extracellular vesicle research and drug delivery.
Girijananda Chowdhury University congratulated Dr Sarma on the achievement, noting that the recognition reflects his dedication to scientific research, academic excellence and contributions to the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences.
His inclusion in the global ranking is a matter of pride for the university and serves as an inspiration to fellow researchers, faculty members and students. The institution also wished him continued success and further achievements in his academic and research career.
