The Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) gears up to organize the Regional Official Language Conference and prize distribution function on Saturday at Shri Shri Aaoniati Shaakha auditorium in Dibrugarh.

Awards will be given to central government offices, banks and undertakings for doing excellent works in official language under different categories by the dignitaries in the ceremony, officials said.

Senior officers, employees of the central government and central offices will be present in the programme.

Four regional conferences are organized every financial year by the Department of Official Language for the promotion of official language, Hindi.

Due to the difficult circumstances in view of the Covid19 pandemic, these events could not be held for the last two years and in 2021-22, the first event was held on October 22, 2021 in Goa, second in Kanpur on November 27 and the third in Hyderabad on December 4, 2021.

The facility of online submission of quarterly progress reports of all the Town Official Language Implementation Committees to the department was started by the Department of Official Language through the Information Management System under which user IDs and passwords have been provided to all the Town Official Language Implementation Committees.

Through this, the Town Official Language Implementation Committees log on to the website and send all relevant information like agenda and minutes to the Department of Official Language online and on the basis of these information, the awards are evaluated.

The awardees will be honoured with certificates and shields for their excellent work in the field of official language, officials added.
